Here at Fashionably Large Shoes we love to look at pictures of A-listers on the red carpet and envy their wardrobes.

This week, there really was only one place to be seen if you’re rich and famous (or even infamous), and that was the 65th annual Cannes Film Festival in the South of France.
The fashion did not let us down, the gowns this year were out of the world, with fish tail dresses making a big splash on the red carpet.  It's not the type of dress you could normally wear on a Saturday night out, but Cheryl Cole, Eva Longoria and Naomi Watts all looked stunning in their gowns.

Elsewhere, the stars were literally dazzling the paparazzi in their dresses, as one of the other top trends of Cannes this year, was metallic.  Diane Kruger, Jessica Chastain and Tilda Swinton were amongst the ladies who shimmered in hues of bronze, gold and silver.
Of course, we were also paying special attention to the feet of those present, to see what footwear they were wearing with their fabulous frocks.  Sadly, despite the torrential rain there wasn’t a designer gumboot in sight.  But thanks to the many dresses that were slashed to the thigh we did see a lot of shoes, not to mention a lot of Angelina Joliesque leg poses.
However, nude platform heels are clearly still huge news with many stars opting for natural shades to enhance the length of their legs.  Coral appears to be the trending colour right now and lots of stars were seen adorned in the pretty shade, it is a very fresh and summery look and nude heels complement it perfectly.

In addition to the nude shoes, there were also many pairs of black strappy sandals on display, many of them with ankle straps, as well as silver and gold sandals to match the metallic dresses.

As well as the many pairs of platform heels on display, we were pleased to see the return of the stiletto pump.   Everyone’s  first choice for the best dressed award seemed to go the German actress, Diane Kruger, who looked amazing in glittery silver pumps from Christain Louboutin and a white and lavender Chanel dress.  Diane was there as an official jury member which meant she got to wear a lot of fabulous outfits and shoes during the week!
